Wayne County Public Health Service together with Lyons Veterinary Clinic is pleased to announce the dates for their Spring Rabies Clinics for pets. Clinics will be held at 2 different locations in Wayne County, providing county residents easy access. Rabies, a potentially fatal disease, continues to be an important public health threat to both humans and domestic animals/livestock.
State Law requires all dogs, cats and ferrets, 4 months of age and over be vaccinated against rabies. Pet owners are asked to bring vaccination records with them, if they have any, as proof of prior vaccination. The first rabies vaccination your pet receives is good for 1 year. Subsequent vaccinations are good for 3 years. Dogs must be leashed and cats/ferrets confined in some type of secure carrier to prevent escapes and injuries.
A $5.00 donation is requested to help defray the cost of the clinics, but no pet will be turned away due to the inability to donate.
