We host a large variety of events throughout the year. Be sure to check the Events
Calendar often!
Fundraising Events
The Annual Open House is held in spring. Contests, raffles and
guest booths raise money. Organizations, companies and veterinarians join us
to answer questions about pet ownership, health and care.
Paws for the Cause was launched in May 2001. Paw Print certificates
are made available for a small donation. Personalize them with your name or
your pet's name. Merchants throughout the county display the certificates
during the campaign.
The Mutt Strut (formerly Walk-A-Thon) is held in early autumn. It has grown to include
contests, awards and special guests. We have live music, a chicken barbecue
and more!
Our Pasta Dinner and White Elephant Sale is held each October. Plan
to join us for a generous meal and terrific bargains on pre-enjoyed and
craft items.
Tree of Lights for the Animals extends from Thanksgiving through
the Christmas and Hanukkah holidays. You are invited to help decorate the
shelter's holiday tree with lights and ornaments by making donations in
honor or memory of a pet.
Pet-related Events
We participate in the national Spay Day event promoted by the Doris
Day Animal Foundation and PETsMART. The goal of the event is to
call attention to the problem of pet overpopulation, and to recognize the
efforts by local communities and groups to combat the problem. We hold
drawings for free spay/neuter certificates.
Adopt-A-Pet Days improve our presence in the community. One of our
volunteers takes cats, kittens and a dog or puppy to local businesses 30-40
times a year.
